BodyTalk is a holistic healthcare system that seeks to restore balance and harmony in the body by addressing the underlying causes of illness or disease. It was developed by Dr. John Veltheim, a chiropractor, acupuncturist, and philosopher, in the late 1990s.
The basic premise of BodyTalk is that the body has an innate ability to heal itself, but that this ability can become compromised by stress, trauma, and other factors. By using a combination of traditional and modern healing techniques, BodyTalk practitioners aim to activate the body's natural healing mechanisms, allowing it to heal itself more effectively.
The BodyTalk system is based on a number of principles from traditional Chinese medicine, quantum physics, Reiki, and other healing traditions. During a BodyTalk session, the practitioner uses muscle testing to identify imbalances in the body's energy systems and then uses a variety of techniques, including tapping and gentle physical touch, to restore balance and promote healing.
Overall, BodyTalk is a gentle and non-invasive approach to healthcare that can be used to address a wide range of physical, emotional, and mental health concerns. It can be safely applied to all people (and even animals!) of all ages, from infants to the elderly, and is often used in conjunction with other forms of healthcare to provide a more comprehensive approach to healing.

During a BodyTalk session, the practitioner will begin by discussing your concerns and goals with you. They may ask questions about your medical history, lifestyle, childhood, traumas, and any current symptoms or issues you are experiencing.
Next, the practitioner will use a technique called muscle testing to identify any imbalances or areas of tension in your body. Muscle testing is usually performed by the practitioner holding your arm and applying gentle pressure to get ‘yes’ or ‘no’ answers.
Based on the results of the muscle testing, the practitioner will develop a formula that may involve a combination of techniques, such as tapping on specific points on the body, holding certain positions, or energetically holding space.
The practitioner will then work with you to facilitate communication between different parts of your body, including your brain, organs, and energy systems. This is often done through a series of gentle touches or taps on specific areas of your body.
Throughout the session, the practitioner will continue to use muscle testing to assess the effectiveness of the techniques and adjust the formula as needed. The actual session typically lasts 30-40 minutes. Afterwards the practitioner will go over what came up and what was addressed, as well as provide any recommendations to support your results.
It's important to note that the experience of a BodyTalk session can vary depending on the practitioner and the individual receiving the treatment. Some people report feeling deeply relaxed or energized, while others may not notice a significant change right away. It's also important to approach BodyTalk as a complementary therapy rather than a replacement for medical treatment or advice from a qualified healthcare professional.

Everyone is different. Some clients have physical results the same day, others may integrate the changes within a few days, and some people have such deep and complex patterns or trauma that it takes multiple visits over several months to see long lasting results.
Regardless of what they come in for, nearly every single person leaves feeling more centered, relaxed, grounded, and just plain better than when they started their session. Results are also cumulative and build on each other over time as more work is done and the body becomes more accustomed to the process, healing and thus results are seen faster.

The concept of cellular memory refers to the idea that cells in the body can retain memories of past experiences or traumas, and that these memories can impact physical and emotional health.
Some studies have suggested that cells can retain certain traits or memories through epigenetic changes, which involve modifications to the way genes are expressed without altering the underlying DNA sequence. Trauma or stress experienced by parents can lead to epigenetic changes in their offspring that may increase their risk for certain health issues.
An example would be the Potato Famine in Ireland from 1845-1852. It is well documented that the descendants of survivors of that famine have altered gene expressions because of that trauma. Children and grandchildren and beyond were genetically “primed” to survive another famine, leading them to higher rates of obesity, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and mental illness. Even though they themselves never existed during famine, their DNA “remembered” starvation and prepared them for it.
In BodyTalk, the concept of cellular memory is often used to describe the idea that past experiences or traumas may be stored in the body's cells and tissues and can impact physical and emotional health. According to this theory, imbalances or blockages in the body's energy systems can be caused by cellular memories of past experiences or traumas. Published works like “The Body Keeps the Score” and “The Embodied Mind” provide further study.
During a BodyTalk session, the practitioner may use a variety of techniques, including tapping on specific points on the body or holding certain positions, to help release these cellular memories and restore balance to the body's energy systems. This approach promotes healing and supports the body's natural ability to self-regulate and self-heal through the established matrix web of BodyTalk.
